Ernestine "Tina" Carr, 78, of Newcomerstown, formerly of Ypsilanti, MI, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at her son’s home in Ohio.

She was born Oct. 5, 1939, in Banner, KY, the daughter of Tine and Elizabeth (Jones) Meade. On Dec. 18, 1957, she married James Carr in Virginia and he preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1996. She then married Jim Hurley on March 13, 2004 in Newcomerstown, and he preceded her in death in May of 2014. Tina was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Ypsilanti and also attended the Churches of Christ in Christian Union in Newcomerstown. She worked at Ford Motor Company, Rawsonville plant for 31 years as a winder operator. She loved country and gospel music and she loved to sing. Tina began performing on the radio with her sister when she was five years old. She was an astute songwriter, especially country and gospel songs. Tina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmie D. (Kathie) Carr of Newcomerstown and Jeffrey (Beverly) Carr of South Lyon; five grandchildren, Richard (Tanja), Jeffrey (James), Ashley Elizabeth, Chelsea and Emily; six great-grandchildren, Alana, Jimmie, Emily, Ahnala, Avin and Pressley Adair; great-great grandson Roman; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Meade and Salley Meade; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

The funeral service was Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at Stark Funeral Service, 101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti. Pastor James Reed of the Churches of Christ in Christian Union officiated. Graveside services were Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 in Davidson Memorial Gardens in Ivel, KY. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
