Wilda Fern Belt, 86, of Newcomerstown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Fern was born July 3, 1931 in Robbins, OH to the late Thomas "Windy" and Snowie (Peters) Williams. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 31 years, Emmett Belt on July 3, 1980, and her sons Raymond Belt and Timmy Belt. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Tom Williams, Morton Williams, Dwight Williams, Hubert Williams, Irene Sweitzer, Lillian Vandal, Doris Eckfield, Janet Sigman, Charles Williams, Johanna Williams and her granddaughter-in law, Cathy Belt.
Fern is survived by her daughter, Linda Belt Davenport of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by her companion of 33 years Garland "Whitey" Whited; six grandchildren, Greg (Michelle) Belt, Steven (Robin) Belt, Raymond (Dawn) Belt, Erin (John) Franklin, Jessica (Luke) McCabe, and Mandy (Tom) Haslage; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Fern enjoyed life to the fullest and knew no stranger. She was a proud wife and mother of three who enjoyed cooking, making others laugh, and spending time with family. Later in life, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren, fishing, sailing and traveling across the country with Whitey. Fern was a member of the Newcomerstown Church of Nazarene and occasionally attended Word of Life Ministry in West Lafayette.
A celebration of life service was Friday, April 13, at Addy Funeral Home, 406 W. State St., Newcomerstown, with Carl Cutlip officiating. Burial followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown.
