Journey's End Ministries has busy two months

Journey's End Ministries recently held their board meeting where activity from the last two months was discussed.

In the Clothes Closet in February, we served 853 families and handed out 10,398 items. In March, we served 1,040 families and handed out 13,844 items. The Food Pantry served 1,019 families (3,374 people) in February. In March, we served 1,190 families (3,856 people).

The cost per person for food in Feruary was $1.04 and in March was $.86.

Our annual inspection from the Akron Canton Food Bank was read where we were given an excellent rating with the comment that we exceeded all quidelines and are a model program. We are also considered one of the largest food pantries in their eight county service area. Volunteer hours were 1,415 hours in February and 1,306 in March. We continue our regular hours of Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. with inlimited clothing for everyone, irregardless of location, and weekly food available for qualifying families within a 10 mile radius of Newcomerstown.

Our monthly meal is held the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at 205 S. River St. and the telephone is 498-5772.
