West Elementary PTO gives thanks

Editor:

The West Elementary PTO would like to thank the basketball players (we have to use that term loosely) from the schools and businesses for a great basketball game on Saturday night.

The All Star Jam featured players from the West, Newcomerstown Middle and Newcomerstown High School staffs and from the area businesses. The competitiveness of the game can be seen with the closeness of the final score, decided by one point. We look forward to this activity being an annual event with more participants from both the school and businesses.

We would also like to thank Chuck Eicholtz for volunteering to announce the game, Studio 3 for the half-time entertainment, Shane McNutt for his 50/50 donation back to the PTO and the State Farm Insurance Agency for their donations.

Appreciation goes out to the following businesses for their participation in this year's All Star Jam: Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (Dwayne Shepherd), RJ Wright and Sons (Caine Bricker and Andy Wright), WTNS Radio (Jessi Marcincavage), Good Neighbor Preschool (Wendy Miller), Herco 3D Diamond (Jake Fox), Hair Craze (Bart Haswell), Brode Construction (Steven Brode) and Bradford Towing (Heather Bradford).

For the past four years, the PTO has been sponsoring activities to raise money to purchase a fence for the second/third grade playground. With the help of parents, students, teachers and the community, we have finally reached our goal. Thank you very much!
