Colonoscopy saved life

Editor:

In July of 2009, I decided to see a different doctor. I went to see him and right away he knew I did not have a colonoscopy.

I was 51, almost 52. My previous doctor did not order the test when I turned 50.

On Aug. 7, 2009, I went for the test. The very first one I had and the doctor who did it found a polyp on my stomach. It was starting to get dark; I have pictures.

He said if I had waited another year or two, I would have had cancer.

I urge anyone who is turning 50 to get it done. I know having it done may be unpleasant but what could happen if you don't have it done could be much worse.
