First of all the Newcomerstown Bicentennial Quilt Committee would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supplied blocks for the 2014 Bicentennial Community Quilt.

We were just overwhelmed at the response. We had no idea we would get so many blocks. We were hoping to do a full size quilt, but it looks like we will be doing a queen or king size one.

As a lot of you know we had an article in the paper for three weeks, selling blocks because we didn't think we would have enough, but people starting getting the blocks into us, so we had to stop selling them. We apologize to anyone who wanted to purchase a block and wasn't able to get one but never fear we have come up with another way for you to have your name on the quilt. We will be having what is called "piano keys" around the outside edge of the quilt that you can have your name on. These will be $5 each and if you want to sign your own, someone will be at the Library Annex on March 13 from 9 a.m. to noon and March 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. for you to stop in and sign a key. Just take your $5.00, per key, with you and give it to Gladys Hinds.

Hope this helps so we can get as many names on the quilt as possible. If you can't make any of the times listed then once the quilt is started you will be able to stop in and sign a key. Hopefully, this quilt is going to be quilted at the Temperance Tavern Museum. Just keep watching the paper for times that the quilting group will be working on it so you can stop in and see it and sign a key if you wish.
