Editor:

I enjoyed seeing the picture of the Lick Run School in your latest paper (April 3 issue of The Newcomerstown News), page 2.

After the school was closed, it was moved to my Uncle Oliver Hothem's farm and used as a shed by the barn. I was in it many times. It is no longer standing.

As for the picture, it was taken about 1922 and the students are, l to r, front row, Grover Moore, Lloyd Hothem, Sam Lyons, William Egler, Bob Elliot, Theressa Moore, Geneva Haver, Rosemary Lyons, Katherine Carr; and back row, Bernice Brown, Lester Gephart, John Lanay, Vearl Hothem, Luther Carney, Vernon Egler, Charles Gross, Stella Brown, and Opal Hothem.

Interesting to see Geneva Haver sticking her tongue out.

You can also see the old coal house behind the students and some of their "artwork" on the coal house on the left in the picture.

I believe all of the students pictured are gone now.

Thanks for the memories.
