The word "community" is derived from the Old French communit which is derived from the Latin communitas (cum, "with/together" + munus, "gift"), a broad term for fellowship or organized society.

This is why the residents of Newcomerstown need to keep donating time and effort to the "Swimming Pool Project" and other worthwhile projects in the village.

Those who are financially able should consider donating money to keep these projects continually solvent. Even donating a $1 makes you part of something bigger than yourself. Just because a generous donor, individual or corporation makes a large donation, we, as a society should not take the position.

We are now somehow relieved of our responsibility to friends and neighbors.

Being a community brings us together for the common good and moves us forward. If we love our neighbor as ourselves, problems would disappear.

Please keep donating to the swimming pool. A group is in the process of being chosen to control disbursement of the funds. This will be controlled and used for only the pool and records will provided as requested by the public.

We had a respectable turn out May 13.
