Sinners are to be baptized, Acts 22:16, to wash away sins. Are babies sinners? What is sin?

Read 1 John 3:4. It says, "Sin is the transgression of the law," KJV. Another translation says, "to commit sin is to break God's law; sin in fact is lawlessness," thus babies cannot sin, as one has to break a law. Look at a little baby, so sweet and innocent, for a while. When about 2 or 3, "Did you take a cookie without asking?" No! and crumbs are around the child--evidence!-- lying, one of the big sins, the 10 commandments. Thus sin creeps into everyone's life, and we all become sinners.

What causes us to sin? I would say selfishness. I want something for me. Notice Eve was tempted three ways: the fruit was good for food, it was pleasant to the eyes, and it would make her wise, which makes one feel more important.

The serpent tempted Eve. I found the word Satan isn't mentioned until 1 Chronicles 21:1, and he provoked David to do wrong, to number Israel, which is another interesting story.

So remember when we do wrong, we let Satan provoke us! Also, I found the devil is not mentioned until Matthew 4:1, where he tempts Jesus.

Those are all one, evil, and will cause you to lose your soul. The apostle Paul said in Romans 8:2, "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the Law of sin and death." This is our only hope, and we must make sure we are in Christ Jesus! God loved us so much that He sent His Son to save us by His blood, which washes our sins away, in His blood, Romans chapter 6.

The Bible names all the sins we are to stay away from. Do you know what they are and where they are listed? And what was Adam's sin? You'll be surprised. I was!

Next time!
