The Bible is very clear on what sin is, "To commit sin is to break God's law," 1 John 3:4. God gave Moses the Ten Commandments, which are all in effect today, except one, remember the Sabbath, as we are now to remember Jesus on the first day of the week, with a living memorial, the Lord's Supper, Acts 20:7. Jesus even takes two commandments farther by saying, "Don't even look at a woman with lust in your mind and if you hate your brother, you are a murderer!"

Remember, we are tempted in three ways: lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, and we want to be proud or wise. What are the two strongest desires that God gave us? If we don't eat, we will die. The next strongest desire is sexual.

The word sex is not in the Bible, but know and knew is, Genesis 4:1 and Adam knew Eve, his wife and she conceived, and notice in Matthew 1:25, that Joseph knew not her, Mary, until she had Jesus, then Mary had James the half-brother of Jesus, 1 Corinthians 15:7. God created sex and put it in marriage. Sex outside of marriage is sin, fornication, the only cause for divorce, Matthew 5:42.

Are you ready for the lists of sins? Romans 1:29 has a list of 21 sins and says God gives up on these people! Galatians 5:19, 20, 21 has a list of seventeen and even adds, "such like" in case one was left out! Ephesians 5:3-7 says these people will not inherit the kingdom of Christ and of God, nine sins are mentioned.

It is important to keep sin out of our lives, but how can we?

Memorial Day is coming, and we remember the dead. Do you know what "a living memorial" is?

Next time!
