Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou, my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. Psalm 30:10 12.
I came across these verses and was reminded once again of just how much I have to praise and thank God for. He truly has turned my "mourning into dancing." He has clothed me with gladness. Not just once but so many times through the years He has shown mercy and been my helper as verse 10 says. Times when it seemed the pain, grief, or sorrow would never end He came, bringing sunshine, happiness, and a reason for joy. Many times it was forgiveness and peace that I needed, and He gave it. He has lifted discouragement, adding understanding and a reason to go on. Often His touch has reminded me that I am not alone. His presence is real, so close, a feeling of His nearness, and seeing the love in His eyes. It's hearing his voice or knowing the touch of His hand. My God is real; He's alive!
I will give thanks unto thee for ever. I will not be silent. I will tell always of His goodness and mercy. I will praise Him when others don't understand. I will love Him and serve Him in whatever way He directs. I will depend and lean on Him as we walk together, knowing His help is mine for the asking. I will share the joy, peace, and wonder of His love.
Knowing the Lord, His Word, mercy, and presence is a blessing beyond anything conveyed in mere words. --Published in the Countryside Baptist Church bulletin October 2, 2016.
