Takin' The Road Less Traveled

I have been called a perfectionist a few....well, many.....times in my life. In high school I took it as a compliment from coaches and teachers, which was how they intended it. Life however, is nothing like high school.

About the Bible

I want to apologize about my last article, it was meant to answer the man's statement about addiction being a disease and if I had known they were going to print it under "About the Bible," I would have put some scriptures to show how much God is against alcohol and any addiction which would control us.

WASHINGTON -- There are many reasons why the Senate will probably reject Republicans' bill razing much of former President Barack Obama's health care law. There are fewer why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell might revive it and avert a GOP humiliation.

I don't understand

Let me start off by saying that I am beyond thankful for the love and support of my friends and family. I am also grateful for the advice and prayers that I get from complete strangers. Watching my husband live his life with MS has been one of the hardest things I have ever experienced.

Just recently I read the book, "One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven" by Mark Cahill. Of course the one thing I won't be able to do in Heaven is tell the lost about Jesus. I will not be able to share my faith with the lost because there will be no lost in Heaven. I must tell them today.

Great speeches an inspiration

I love a great speech. We have all heard a thousand speeches in our lifetime. Independence Day celebrations like those that are going on all across the nation this week have their speech makers. Some speeches are inspirational and others are just, "deadly.

As I drove today I heard a pastor on the radio mention that we all have a story to tell, our testimony. Our story would tell of where God brought us from and where He intends that we go. God saved me when I was 14 years old so the sins I knew about were not the worldly, life changing ones.

Takin' the Road Less Traveled

I do my best to avoid flat out rants but sometimes it is just unavoidable. The last few weeks I have had something stuck on my mind....why can't people just say no? When I ask someone to do me a favor...of course I hope they can say yes...

About the Bible

"The Truth about Addiction" The article about addiction by John Lowe in last week's Newcomerstown News aroused some questions in my mind. I've had many questions ever since people have decided to call alcoholism a disease.

Many years ago I heard the statement, "You must stand for something, or you will fall for anything." This was said from a religious perspective, so I believe the meaning was to stand for what I believe, what is right, or what the Word of God says.

About the Bible

Does the Bible teach, "Once saved, always saved" or "one cannot fall from grace"? I have found 18 scriptures which say he can, as God has always given man a choice. Wouldn't you say Adam and Eve fell from grace?

There's a name above all others, wonderful to hear, bringing hope and cheer. It's the lovely name of Jesus, evermore the same, what a lovely name . Sweeter than the songs they sing in Heaven. Let the world proclaim, what a lovely name.

About the Bible

God has done His part for our salvation; does He tell us what our part is? Can we be sure of what to do? Yes! Denominations teach you what to do to join their church; God teaches you what to do, and if you do it, He will add you to His Church, Acts 2:47; that puts Him in control!

Give me liberty

Peggy Garner had a deeper and different understanding of liberty than Patrick Henry--he who famously shouted "Give me liberty or give me death." Peggy Garner had no liberty. She was a slave. Patrick Henry detested taxation--without representation--by a distant British Parliament.

About the Bible

There will be no sin in heaven! No one will accidentally end up in heaven. One must plan to be there or will end up like the rich man; read Luke 16:19-23! Back to what Jesus said, "He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me and I in him.

About the Bible

I hope you read Numbers 21:4-9, where the people sinned by complaining and God sent serpents as punishment. The people were bitten, and many died. Moses was told to make a brass serpent and put it on a pole. If the people would look up at the brass serpent, they would live.
