Indian Valley finished second out of 17 teams at the Division III sectional tournament at Northridge High School as the Braves qualified eight wrestlers for districts.

West Jefferson won with event with 256 points while Indian Valley finished with 159. Newark Catholic racked up 155 for third place.

Newcomerstown was 10th in the field and will be represented at districts by sophomore Marcus Mardis, who finished third in the 140-pound division. The top four wrestlers in each weight class advanced.

Making the trip to the Steubenville districts for Indian Valley will be Justin Meese (119) and Bo Gilmore (152), who both finished second, along with third place finishers Darrin Warner (112), Jordan Bowling (125), Aaron McMahon (130), Dillon Dunlap (145) and Colton Cantrill (215). Heavyweight Dakota Sentz was fourth and rounds out the group.

The districts were originally scheduled to be held at Steubenville High School but were moved to Steubenville's St. John's Arena. The facility had been closed several months ago, but is being reopened to host the tournament this week-end.

Ridgewood wrestled at the Cardington-Lincoln sectionals but no information was available at press time.

Nc'town finishes fourth

MAGNOLIA -- The following is additional information about Newcomerstown's fourth place performance at the Inter-Valley Conference Championship held last Saturday at Sandy Valley.

Brian Beckett finished as runner-up in the 125-pound weight class. Coming in third place for the Trojans were Casey Dressler (103) and Marcus Mardis (140), while fourth place went to David Wilmes (130), Jess Yoho (171), Clayton McAfee (215), and Dustin Daugherty (heavyweight).
