GNADENHUTTEN -- Indian Valley High School had the privilege of hosting the District 5 Boy's and Girl's All-Star games on Friday.

For the boys, it was the West securing an 82-76 win over the East. Local players on the West roster included Newcomerstown's Chase Addy, Indian Valley's Jordan Frey, and Ridgewood's Jarred Kreitzer. The West team was coached by Shawn Miller of Strasburg and Dan Weekley of Newcomerstown.

Hiland's Colton Troyer, a 6-5 senior, drained 24 points on the strength of six 3-pointers to secure MVP honors. The East's Nikola Knezevic earned MVP for the East with his 21 point effort.

The West trailed at halftime, 35-29, and cut the deficit in half through the third period. Troyer had a trey of treys during that time as the game headed into the fourth frame with the East clinging to a 56-53 lead.

It was all West in the fourth quarter. Trailing 58-55, the Trojan's Addy nailed a three pointer to knot the score at 58. A huge 17-2 West run put the team ahead 72-60. It was then the East's turn to light things up, closing the gap to 75-72 with just over a minute to go. But Troyer came through with two free throws at the :17 second mark to secure the win.

Also for the West, Dover's Corey Lisowski tossed in 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds while Ridgewood's Kreitzer came through with seven points and snagged five rebounds.

On the girl's side, the West scored a 75-66 victory. Local players for the West included Ashley Patterson of Ridgewood and Kaci Bond of Indian Valley. Ridgewood's Doug Patterson was coach along with Mike Angelozzi, and Joel Goodwin of Tuscarawas Central Catholic.

River View's Kari Daugherty was the game's MVP as she poured in 24 points.

Conotton Valley's Abby Gooding was MVP for the East with 11 points.

The West led the entire way with a 24-10 first quarter lead while holding a 40-26 advantage at the break. A 58-44 lead after three quarters gave the West what they needed to cruise to victory.
