The Newcomerstown boys' basketball team recently had a 3-on-3 tournament to raise funds for the program.

Thirty teams participated with age brackets ranging from elementary, junior high, high school to adult, plus a girls division. Approximately 105 participants took part in the games. The second year event, which was organized by head coach Dan Weekley and junior varsity coach Jeff Burrier, attracted teams from Dover, New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas Central Catholic, Garaway, John Glenn and Indian Valley, in addition to local teams.

"This is a great way to build the basketball program at Newcomerstown and raise funds in a very proactive way. It gives our guys the chance to actively participate and allows many others from surrounding areas to see our community and school. It's also enjoyable for the spectators that come to watch. I'd like to thank Steve Cronebaugh Auctions for donating the large tent that we used for registration and to keep track of the brackets through the day. We're planning for another tournament next year as well," Weekley said.
