SANDYVILLE -- Ridgewood and Sandy Valley rolled up 896 yards of total offense on Friday night, and the way the Generals have been playing this season, most people wouldn't be surprised if all of it was from the Orange and Black.

But alas, Ridgewood "only" accounted for 506 of the total and the Generals poured it on the scoreboard en route to a 61-27 shellacking of Sandy Valley.

The Cardinals did rack up 393 yards of their own in a losing effort. The Generals now stand at 5-0, including 2-0 in the IVC.

Jake Conrad continued his stellar season with another big game, rushing for 221 yards on 14 carries to go with four TDs. And just for good measure, Conrad completed a 74-yard scoring throw to Austin Bates.

Cody Welker had a big game for the Cardinals, throwing for 232 yards on 19-of-34 passing. His throws included two touchdowns but also three interceptions. Welker ran 18 times for 91 yards with one rushing TD.

Sandy Valley (1-4, 0-2 IVC) shot to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter when Greg Monte hauled in a 26-yard pass form Welker. The Generals responded quickly with Conrad scoring on runs of 71 and 36 yards. Skylor McQuiston's extra points, which included eight total on the night, made it 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second frame, Conrad took his talents to the air and hit Bates with a 74 yard TD pass. Colt Landis then came through with a 47 yard scoring run to put the contest at 28-7. But the Cardinals got on the board right before halftime when Zane Dierick pulled in an eight-yard pass from Welker for six points. Hughes' PAT made it 28-14 at the break.

It was all Generals in the third period. Conrad scored from 4 and 30 yards out, and then Jarod Conrad got in on the act by returning a punt 30 yards for another six. Ridgewood led 48-14 as the final quarter began.

Welker scored from two yards out before Ridgewood's Nick Bellick and Jay McVay scored on runs of 40 and 14 yards, respectively. The Cardinals closed out scoring when backup QB Groff connected with Lutz for a 32 yard TD.

Overall the Generals had 384 yards on the ground with Landis adding 55. Conrad was 5-of-7 for 131 yards through the air. Bates finished with three catches for 80 yards and James Wiggins had two for 57 stripes.

The Generals now travel to Garaway on Friday to take on the Pirates. Game time is 7 p.m.
