Dave OssoNewcomerstown NewsWEST LAFAYETTE -- Two Ridgewood star players didn't play on Friday but it didn't matter much for the results as the Generals thumped Strasburg for homecoming, 51-14. The injured Jake Conrad and Colt Landis stood on the sidelines while juniors Jay McVay and Nick Bellick filled the senior's shoes.Bellick had three touchdowns and McVay ran for 109 yards on just four carries. Ridgewood (7-0, 4-0 IVC), who was ranked seventh in D-V, Region 19 computer play-off standings, amassed 353 yards on the ground alone.Bellick scored twice in the first quarter with a 5-yard run and 28-yard reception from junior quarterback Kevin Davis. Skylor McQuiston's extra point kicks made it 14-0 at the end of one. McQuiston would go on to boot five more for a total of seven on the night. In the second quarter, senior James Wiggins scored on an 8-yard run to make it 21-0 with 7:57 until halftime. Strasburg came back at the 4:46 mark with a 3-yard run by Hunter Schneiter to put the game at 21-7.Then in a rare occurrence at any level of football, both teams traded back-to-back touchdown kick-off returns. The General's Leonard Davidson went first with an 81 yard jaunt, followed by the Tiger's Hunter Schneiter, who raced 91 yards untouched to the big house. After the dust settled, the scoreboard showed it to be a 28-14 ball game.The quick scoring plays weren't over yet though, as on the next Ridgewood possession, McVay darted 57 yards on the first play to make it 35-14. The Generals got the ball back one more time again, and a 17-yard scoring strike from Davis to Bellick made it 42-14 at the half. In the third quarter, Ridgewood's James Wiggins scored on a 46-yard run, and Strasburg gave up two more points on a bad snap that went out of the end zone to close out scoring.In addition to McVay's rushing total, Bellik had 57 while Wiggins totaled 55. Trent Lingo came up with 59 yards on 13 carries.Austin Hostetler was 6-of-11 through the air for 38 yards. Schneiter had 58 yards rushing on 11 attempts. The Generals travel to New Philadelphia on Saturday to take on Central Catholic.
