BOWERSTON -- Newcomerstown scored an Inter-Valley Conference victory Wednesday on the road at Conotton Valley, 51-32.

After taking a 17-12 lead in the first quarter, the Lady Trojans (6-9, 5-7 IVC) blew away the Lady Rockets in the second quarter, outscoring them 12-1 to take a 29-12 command at the break.

The second half was a little more competitive, but Newcomerstown hung on for the win behind three players scoring in double figures - Steph Felton with 15 points, Chelsea Fenton with 14, and Erica Roberts with 10.

Fenton's 10 rebounds gave her a double-double as she led the Lady Trojans on the glass to a slight rebounding edge, 25-24.

The Lady Rockets were led by Carly Gooding with nine points, while Becca Jones added eight.

From the field, Newcomerstown shot 19-of-46 (41 percent), while holding the hosts to 13-of-40 (32 percent). The visitors hit 11-of-20 (55 percent) of their free-throws, while Conotton Valley struggled at the line, converting 5-of-12 (41 percent) attempts. The Lady Rockets committed 26 turnovers, while the Lady Trojans coughed up 23.

Rigewood beats Malvern

MALVERN -- Courtney Babcock had the hot hand Wednesday, knocking down 21 points to lead Ridgewood to a 54-42 win over Malvern.

Kayla Tedrick was strong on the net also, as she cashed in 17 points. Kelsey Miller came through with six tallies.

The first quarter saw the Lady Generals (12-3, 9-3 IVC) take a 17-12 lead that slimmed down to 28-24 by halftime. Ridgewood got some breathing room in the third period and went up 40-31 as the final quarter began. They used a 14-11 run to close out the win.

Logan Smalley led the Lady Hornets (3-12, 1-10 IVC) with 19 points.

Triway tops Indian Valley

GNADENHUTTEN -- Triway came away with a 41-25 Principals Athletic Conference win over Indian Valley on Wednesday.

The Lady Braves led after the first quarter, 6-4, but were buried 15-2 in the second frame to trail 19-8 at halftime. The Lady Titans held a 22-17 advantage in the second half for the win.

Jessica Knisely was on top offensively for the Lady Braves as she scored seven points. Taryn Deetz pulled down seven rebounds.

Krista Leighty led Triway with 14 points.

Ridgewood knocks off Indian Valley

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Ridgewood built an early first quarter lead and made it stick as they took down Indian Valley on Monday, 43-29.

The Generals (11-3) got out to a 13-6 lead after the first eight minutes of play and moved that to a 22-14 advantage by halftime. Ridgewood outscored their visitors 7-6 in the third frame and 14-9 in the final period.

Kayla Tedrick and Courtney Babcock each cashed in 13 points each to lead the Orange and Black. Tedrick also pulled down seven rebounds.

Indian Valley (0-15) got nine points from Jessica Knisely and seven from Kallie Garbrandt.

Ridgewood won the reserve game, 27-21.

Lady Trojans fall to Strasburg

A 22-point, seven-rebound performance by Strasburg High's Carly Clark was too much for homestanding Newcomerstown to handle last Saturday, as the Lady Trojans fell in Inter-Valley Conference play, 59-49.

After falling behind 23-18 the first half, the Lady Trojans (4-7, 5-9 IVC) were never able to overtake the Lady Tigers, as Strasburg held a 38-32 edge in the second half.

Cadi Shetler pumped in 11 points for Strasburg (11-4, 8-3 IVC) while Santana Bonifant and Erin Metzger each tallied eight.

The Lady Trojans were led by Steph Felton's 12 points and six rebounds. Allie Hinton added nine points on three triples; and Allison Snyder tallied eight.

Newcomerstown shot 17-of-55 from the floor (30 percent) and 11-of-18 from the free-throw line (61 percent), while the visitors hit 22-of-63 (35 percent) field goals and 13-23 (52 percent) foul shots.

Ridgewood knocks off Conotton Valley

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Ridgewood knocked off Conotton Valley, 49-29, in an Inter-Valley Conference match up last Saturday.

The outcome was never in doubt as the Generals took a commanding 16-2 early lead and cruised the rest of the way. The score stood at 27-14 by halftime and 45-23 after the third quarter.

Kayla Tedrick racked up 11 points and came through with six steals and four assists to pace the Generals (10-3, 8-3 IVC). Ali Lusk was right behind with 10 points while Courtney Babcock finished with nine. Teammate Kelsey Miller snagged nine rebounds. The Generals made 16 of 38 from the floor for 42 percent and 14 of 26 at the foul line.

Carly Gooding was lead scorer for the Rockets (2-12, 0-10 IVC) with 11 points to go with five rebounds.
