DOVER -- Ridgewood led from start to finish as they won their first round tournament game against Barnesville on Thursday at Dover High School. The final score of 48-37 set up the Generals to take on Tusky Valley in the lower-bracket championship.

After going up 11-9 after the first quarter, Ridgewood used a 10-7 advantage in the second period for a 21-16 halftime lead. The Generals continued to push away with runs of 16-13 in the third and 11-8 in the final eight minutes.

Courtney Babcock burned the nets for 21 points while Kayla Tedrick scored 15 for the Generals (15-4). Kelsey Miller came through with seven tallies.

Jessica Hunter led the Shamrocks with 10 points.

Ridgewood now plays Tusky Valley in the sectional final on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Dover High School.

Division III Sectional

DOVER -- Top seed Tusky Valley took it to Indian Valley on Thursday in a Division III opening round sectional game, as the Trojans knocked off the Braves, 50-27.

Indian Valley kept it relatively close through the first half, trailing 14-10 after the first quarter and 28-18 by halftime. But the Trojans (20-1) used a 12-4 third quarter and a 10-5 fourth period to put the game away.

Holly Robinson scored six points to lead the Braves. Samantha Ohler and Jessica Knisely each scored five points while Kelsey Emler and Taryn Deetz came through with four apiece. Indian Valley made 9 of 48 shots from the field and 8 of 15 at the line.

Sara Tucke had 16 points to lead Tusky Valley, who converted 19 of 49 from the floor and 6 of 12 at the charity stripe.

Tusky Valley plays Ridgewood in the sectional final on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Dover High School.

Hiland beats Nc'town

BERLIN -- State-ranked and IVC champion Hiland pulled away from Newcomerstown in the second quarter en route to a 77-24 Inter-Valley Conference victory on Wednesday.

Hiland (18-2, 16-0 IVC) led by just 9-7 after one quarter before a 23-6 run opened a 32-13 halftime lead. The margin increased to 51-20 after three periods and a 26-4 advantage in the fourth put it away.

Noelle Yoder led the IVC champion Lady Hawks with 18 points, followed by Hilary Weaver with 15, Katelyn Stuckey with 11, McKenzie Miller with nine and Jessica Stutzman with eight.

For Newcomerstown (7-11, 6-9 IVC), Allie Hinton tallied eight points, Kori Conner had six and Stephany Felton added five.

Hiland was 29-of-64 from the field with 31 rebounds and 10 turnovers. Yoder led the way with seven boards while McKenzie Miller had six.

The Lady Trojans were 10-of-27 from the floor with 23 boards and 38 miscues. Conner grabbed seven rebounds and Felton had five.

No reserve game was played.

Lady Trojans beat Lake Center Christian

Behind a 16-point performance from Chelsea Fenton, the Lady Trojans routed Lake Center Christian at home last Saturday, 50-32.

After leading 23-9 at halftime, Newcomerstown (8-10) poured it on in the second half, including a trio of "triples" from Allie Hinton.

Steph Felton added 10 points to the Orange and Black attack, while Hinton's three-pointers gave her nine markers in the winning effort. Kori Conner also scored nine and Allison Snyder added four.

Lake Center Christian (9-9) was paced by Mary Miller with 11 points.

The Lady Trojans shot 22-of-48 from the floor and snagged 23 rebounds in the victory. The hosts also committed 21 turnovers.

Ridgewood beats Central Catholic

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Ridgewood came back from a 12-9 halftime deficit to defeat Central Catholic 32-26 in IVC action last Saturday.

The Lady Generals trailed 7-4 after the first quarter with both teams scoring five points each in the second. An 11-10 advantage favoring Ridgewood in the third frame made it 22-19 in the Saint's favor as the final eight minutes began.

A 12-4 solid performance by the Orange and Black the rest of the way earned them the win.

Kelsey Miller had a double-double as she scored a career-high 12 points to go with 10 rebounds for Ridgewood (15-4). Courtney Babcock came through with 11 points while Kayla Tedrick added.

Millie Patchan led the Saints with 12 points. No reserve game was played.
