The Lady Trojans used a dozen hits and a sixth-inning triple-play to defeat Hiland, 7-2 in an Inter-Valley Conference match-up on Monday.

Jessie Rexroad had three singles for Newcomerstown (10-4, 6-2 IVC) and Chelsea Fenton added a triple and a double. Allie Hinton came through with two base hits and an RBI while Amber McWhorter cracked a double and had two RBIs. Lexi Montgomery also tagged an RBI single.

Newcomerstown's Hannah Rexroad (1-1) struck out two and walked one in six innings of work for the win. Cydney McMillian got the save.

Katelyn Hershberger took the loss for Hiland (2-11, 1-5 IVC) with two Ks and three walks, while hitting a trio of singles for two RBI.

The triple play occurred when the Lady Hawks put runners at every base with no out. The center field started things off by catching a fly ball. The third base runner then attempted to tag home but was cut down by a great throw. McWhorter then threw to third to pick off the second base runner, who was attempting to advance during the play at home.

GNADENHUTTEN -- The Lady Braves blew out the Lady Royals in a PAC matchup on Monday, 19-3.

Indian Valley stormed out of the gates with nine runs in the first inning. After allowing two in the top of the third, they again lit up the scoreboard with eight more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Kristen Stiles and Vanessa Zeigler each connected on three base hits for the Lady Braves (7-4, 5-1 PAC) while Leanna McMillen, Kari Westbrook, and Rikki Ohler had two singles apiece.

Morgan Miles got credit for the win on the mound.

Sandy Valley 2, Ridgewood 1

MAGNOLIA -- In another pitcher's dual, the Lady Generals came up on the short end by losing a tough 2-1 decision to the Lady Cardinals on Monday.

Ridgewood broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the sixth by plating a single run on a Mindy McDorman sacrifice fly. But Sandy Valley came through with two of their own in the bottom of the sixth courtesy of an RBI single and throwing error. They then held Ridgewood scoreless in the seventh for the win.

Haley Kolmerten took the loss despite giving up only two hits while striking out eight. Katie Beem gave up four hits and got the win for Sandy Valley (6-3, 5-2 IVC).

Laura Dotson smacked two base hits for the Lady Generals (8-6, 3-4 IVC).

West Muskingum 15, Newcomerstown 7

Newcomerstown 20, Rosecrans 1

ZANESVILLE -- The Lady Trojans split in a three-team event on Saturday, suffering a 15-7 setback to host West Muskingum in game one before coming back to pin a 20-1 loss on Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans.

A seven-run, sixth inning outburst by West Muskingum (3-9) broke open a tight opening contest, sending the Lady Tornadoes to the win.

Newcomerstown's Hannah Rexroad suffered the pitching loss, finishing with four strikeouts and no walks.

Rachel Cathey chalked up three singles and Andrea McWhorter ripped a double and single to lead the Lady Trojans at the plate, while Krystin Raach and Rexroad each chipped in with two singles and Allie Hinton smacked a double.

It was the Lady Trojans' turn in the nightcap to rack up some runs, putting up back-to-back nine-run innings in the third and fourth to coast to the win.

Freshman Kara Jenkins and Kenna Mullane each singled three times to pace the Trojan attack, while Amber Emler and Aeriel Green each belted a pair of triples. Rounding out the Orange and Black's 17-hit barrage was Rexroad and Cydney McMillan with a pair of base hits each while Kelsey McCune belted a home run and Kaitlyn Stringer doubled.

McMillan recorded the pitching win to improve to 3-0 on the season, with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Newcomerstown is now 9-4 on the season.

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Ridgewood swept East Knox in a double header last Saturday by scores of 1-0 and 6-4.

Haley Kolmerten got the wins for both games. The all-time strikeout leader for Ridgewood held East Knox to three hits in both games and finished with 23 strikeouts total.

In game one, Laura Dotson cracked an RBI single in the first inning, which turned out to be the only run of the game. In game two, Kim Michaels had three singles and an RBI. Kolmerten and Lindsey Pigman also produced RBI singles.

CARROLLTON -- Indian Valley had a good Saturday by taking two from Carrollton with scores of 4-2 and 13-7.

In game one, the Lady Braves got out to a 4-0 lead and gave up two in the bottom of the seventh before closing the door. Morgan Miles was the winning pitcher, giving up three hits while striking out seven. Kirsten Stiles laced a double for Indian Valley.

In game two, Mindy Bober was the mound winner. She got plenty of bat support as the Lady Braves (6-4) racked up 14 hits, including a double and two singles by Tana Gibbs; a triple, single, and two RBIs by Leanna McMillen; a double and single from Miles; and two base hits by Kari Westbrook.

Carrollton, who committed seven errors in game two and four miscues in game one, fell to 5-7.
