COLUMBUS -- Sean Jones of Indian Valley won the 800 at the Division II state track meet held last Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Jones made a hard charge for the finish at came in with a blazing 1:52.03, setting a school record and personal best time in the process. He missed the state record of 1:50.77 by only 1.26 seconds.

Second place went to CVCA's Brad Adams, who Jones had dueled with at the Principals Athletic Conference meet earlier in the season, when he won in 1:56.12. Jones and Adams passed each other in the last 300 meters with Jones holding on at the finish. The win also qualified him for the Nike Nationals.

In Division III, the Ridgewood relay team members, all seniors, wrapped up their stellar track careers by earning All-Ohio status, which is granted to the top eight finishers in each event.

The 4 x 200 relay team of Nate Anderson, James Wiggins, Colt Landis and Jake Conrad came in third place with a time of 1:29.90. The group actually led most of the race but the final handoff cost them some precious time and they slipped to third. Archbold won the race in 1:28.49, followed by Anna High School in 1:29.11.

The 4 x 100 team of Austin Bates, Wiggins, Landis and Conrad was seventh with a time of 43.99. Steubenville Central Catholic, who the Generals faced at the district and regional meets, won with a time of 42.61.
