Lady Trojans fall to GarawayThe Newcomerstown High Lady Trojans dropped their initial game of the season Tuesday, falling to Inter-Valley Conference foe Garaway by a 25-13, 25-16, 25-10 count.Allison Snyder led the Lady Trojans (0-1, 0-1 IVC) with six kills, four blocks and six digs. Meghann Mullane had nine digs.Nc'town beats HilandBERLIN -- Rebounding from a season-opening loss, Newcomerstown High evened its record with a 3-1 Inter-Valley Conference over host Hiland on Thursday.Newcomerstown (1-1, 1-1 IVC) posted a 25-8 win the opening game, but dropped the second set by a 25-18 score. The Lady Trojans then reeled off wins in the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-17 to claim the victory.Allison Snyder was a big contributor for Newcomerstown, scoring 29 points, including eight aces, while hammering 15 kills and three blocks. Cydney McMillan added eight kills and two blocks to go with nine digs on defense. Taylor Crossman and Tina Gobel dished out 16 and 14 assists, respectively, and Crossman added six kills. Lexi Cross tallied nine points and Erica Roberts recorded 10 digs."With 29 points, eight aces and 15 kills, Allison Snyder played exceptionally well," Newcomerstown coach John Dupke stated. "As a team, we played well overall."Dana Rausch paced the Hiland (0-2, 0-2 IVC) offense with nine aces and she also handed out 14 assists.
