MAGNOLIA -- The Carrollton Warriors boys were victorious in Saturday's Sandy Valley Cross Country Invitational, taking a three-point win over second place Rocky River (56).

Following in third was Minerva (134), ahead of Northwest (135), Canton McKinley (139), Canton South (142), Alliance (178), Canton Archbishop Hoban (181), Navarre Fairless (183), Newcomerstown (242) and Canton Timken (280).

Matt Peters of Northwest was the winner in 16:11, finishing ahead of Rocky River's Eric Stoddard (16:40.5), Canton McKiney's Joe Caizza (17:02.1), Joey Harter of Carrollton (17:19.4) and Lucas Nezbeth of Minerva (17:26.2).

For Newcomerstown, Nathan Marinucci finished 35th (19:16.3) to lead the Trojans. He was followed by Michael Amore (43rd, 19:37.7), Daniel Lovrinic (48th, 19:52.3), Ryan Webster (57th, 26:46.2) and Jacob Everhart (59th, 20:55.2).

For the Newcomerstown girls, Jessica McCoun finished third and McKaila Goodwin finished eighth in the high school open division.
