Ridgewood rallies to beat Rosecrans

ZANESVILLE -- Trailing 1-0, Roxanne Thursby scored a goal with 3:35 remaining in the first half and Ana Veiga knocked home the game winner with 27:52 to go as Ridgewood rallied to beat Zanesville Rosecrans 2-1.

Kloie Johnson gave Rosecrans the lead scoring a goal with 8:53 before the half.

Thursby's goal came on an assist from Joana Meierewert who crossed the ball from the right corner to the middle. Veiga's game winner was a breakaway following a through ball from Latisa Sharier.

The two teams had played to a 0-0 tie earlier this year.

Shots were even at 10 each while Ridgewood held a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.

"I was excited with the way our girls battled back from being a goal down," said coach Casey Claxon. "Our defense also did a great job of denying shots in the second half."

Amanda Bible had 7 saves for Ridgewood (5-2-4) while Ashley Dillon collected 7 for Rosecrans (2-9-1).
