Division III Regional Track Meet

NAVARRE -- It was a good night for Newcomerstown's Darian Arnold as the Division III Regional Track Meet got under way at Fairless High School on Wednesday.

Arnold will compete in the state meet after finishing fourth in two field events. The Trojan senior was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet. 4.25 inches and he finished in the same position in the pole vault by clearing 12 feet.

Newcomerstown freshman Brett Burrier also scored points as he finished eighth in the boys' pole vault with a leap of 11-0.

In the boy's team scoring, the Trojans are fourth with 11 points.

Indian Valley athletes qualify for regionals

MILLERSBURG -- Several Indian Valley athletes qualified for regionals at the Division II district track meet at West Holmes High School last Saturday. The top four individuals in each event advanced to the regional event at Meadowbrook High School.

In the boy's division, the Brave's Ryan Simmers won the 400 in 51.42. A second place finish went to Kyle Johnson in the 100 (11.69), Taylor Gray was third in the 300 hurdles (41.11), and Dominic Bell was second in the pole vault (13-0).

In the boy's relay events, the 800 relay team of Simmers Gray, Johnson, and Matt Allensworth was second (1:31.61); the 1,600 relay team of Simmers, Gray, Chris Troyer, and Johnson was third (3:31.92); and the 400 relay team of Simmers, Gray, Allensworth, and Johnson was fourth (44.77).

In the girl's division, Ridgewood's Maddy Jones won the high jump with a leap of 5-0. Teammate Victoria Wiggins was third (4-10). The General's Megan Cunningham was second in the pole vault (9-6).

Indian Valley's Paige Saho took first in the 800 with a time of 2:22.66.

In the girl's relay events, the Brave's 3,200 team of Courtney Emler, Emily Probert, Courtney Oliver and Saho won with a time of 10:03.57, while the 800 team of Devin Bell, Karissa Kidd, Courtney Emler, and Saho was third (1:52.43).
