COLUMBUS -- Several Ridgewood and Indian Valley athletes put on a strong performance at the Division III and II State Track Meet held last Saturday at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Top on the list was a fourth place finish for the 400-relay team of Nick Bellick, Jarod Conrad, Jay McVay, and Mark Border. The General quartet earned All-Ohio status, given to those in any event who finish in the top eight spots, by posting a personal best time of 43.53. The group, who had the fifth best time in the preliminaries with a time of 43.98, just missed third place by .02 seconds. All are seniors except Border, who is a junior.
Anna High School won in 43.19 followed by North Robinson Colonel Crawford (43.24) and Columbiana Crestview (43.51).
This marked the second straight year that the Ridgewood 400 relay team was All-Ohio as the 2010 group was seventh.
Junior Chris Saylor also picked up All-Ohio honors with seventh place in the pole vault. Saylor nailed 13-0 on his first attempt but couldn't get the 13-6 mark.
In the girl's division, Ridgewood's Meghan Cunningham, a junior competing in the Division II pole vault, tied for ninth with a leap of 10-0.
