NORTON -- Ridgewood's Tanner Stoffer recently won the 2011 Junior Qualifier at Barberton Brookside Country Club with a 5-over-par 77.

Stoffer, who will be a senior this coming season, will now play in the Junior PGA Championship July 27 and 28 at Club Walden in Aurora.

The General linksman could only manage a 42 on the front nine but rallied with a 35 on the backside, including a birdie on the 18th, to pull out the win. Two others also came in with 77 but it was Stoffer's score on the final nine holes that gave him victory.

Stoffer's next stop, the Junior PGA Championship, has been played by such golfing legends as none other than Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Jim Furyk. It is open to one boy and one girl champion from each of the 41 PGA sections, the PGA Junior Series events, and several other national junior tournaments.
