Ridgewood's Evan Jones has verbally committed to play football at Michigan State. He will be play for head coach Mark Dantonio, who is originally from Zanesville.
At 6-6 and 240 pounds, the soon to be senior was recruited by West Virginia, Bowling Green, Akron, and Toledo, but decided to stay in the Big Ten.
Jones stars on defense for Ridgewood but also plays well at tight end. He was tabbed as special mention All-Ohio, AP first team Division V for the All-East District, and first team IVC. Jones racked up 54 tackles and six sacks in 2010. The Spartans recruited him as a power athlete, meaning he could play defense or offense at this point.
