Ridgewood High picked up its first victory of the season against Indian Valley to highlight local softball action for the week.

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Ridgewood High dropped a 4-1 Inter-Valley Conference decision to visiting Malvern on Monday.

The Lady Generals managed only a two hits by Abby Youngen, who also score the only run. Erica Ohlinger was credited with the RBI.

Tuscarawas Central 10,

Ridgewood 0

NEW PHILADELPHIA --The Ridgewood Lady Generals suffered a 10-0 setback to host Tuscarawas Central Catholic in five innings on Tuesday.

Erika Michael (0-3) took the pitching loss for the Lady Generals, allowing 12 hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Jasmine Pelfrey, Emily McCoy and Brianna Grace each singled for Ridgewood (0-7, 0-3 IVC).

Leading the Lady Saints were Anne Breher with two doubles and Augelica Cerici with a home run and single.

Indian Valley 6

GNADENHUTTEN -- It took a little longer than they'd hoped, but the Ridgewood Lady Generals picked up their first win of the season Thursday by defeating Indian Valley, 7-6.

Taylor Zinkon and Erika Michaels combined on the mound for Ridgewood (1-7), with Zinkon (1-3) striking out two and walking two in four innings while Michaels worked the final three frames for the save.

Jasmine Pelfrey led the Lady Generals with three singles and three RBI. Brianna Grace and Amy Foreman each had two singles, with Grace driving in two runs.

For Indian Valley (1-3), Jayme Hykis collected a triple and three singles; Kylie Morris had three singles and three RBI; and Baili Fox had a double, two single and three RBI.

AKRON -- Finally getting the softball season under way, the Indian Valley Lady Braves dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 decision to host Akron Manchester on Monday.

Manchester's Harbarger set down 15 Lady Braves on strikeouts and gave up just one walk in grabbing the win for the Lady Panthers (5-0). Amanda Jones (0-1) absorbed the loss for IV, fanning four and giving up three free passes.

Indian Valley managed just one hit, a single by Rikki Ohler, while Jayme Hykes and Kylie Morris each had an RBI.

Harbarger helped herself by hammering a home run while Zwick added a double for Manchester.

Claymont 3

GNADENHUTTEN -- Indian Valley slipped past Claymont by a 4-3 final score in softball action on Tuesday.

Katie Shamel, who reached on a single, crossed the plate with the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Lady Braves.

Indian Valley's Amamda Jones picked up the pitching win with seven strikeouts and four walks.

Rikki Ohler led the Lady Braves (1-1) with a pair of singles.

Claymont (1-3) was led by Ashley Langdon with a double and single.

Manchester 10,

GNADENHUTTEN -- Visiting Manchester High used a four run second inning to roll past Indian Valley High by a 10-0 final in prep softball action on Wednesday.

Amanda Jones absorbed the pitching loss for Indian Valley (1-2), finishing with three strikeouts and three walks.

Indian Valley's offense was limited to singles from Jamie Hykes and Kayleigh Moore.

Horing led Manchester with three singles.

Tusky Catholic 14,

Newcomerstown 6

NEWCOMERSTOWN -- Surrendering unearned runs proved too costly for host Newcomerstown to overcome on Wednesday, as the Lady Trojans dropped a 14-6 decision to Tusky Catholic in Inter-Valley Conference play.

The guests took advantage of six Newcomerstown errors to post multi-run innings in the second, third, fifth and sixth, pounding out 15 hits in the process.

The Lady Saints (3-1, 3-1 IVC) were led by Sam Beamer, who torched the hosts for two singles, two doubles, three runs and six RBI. Mates Andelina Fadorsa and Anne Dreher each added a pair of hits.

For Newcomerstown (3-2, 1-1 IVC), Katelin Stringer was the offensive star with a single, a two-run homer, a run and four RBI. Teammate Meghann Mullane added a single, double and three RBI.

Lady Trojan starter Cydney McMillan took the loss with relief help from Aeriel Green. The pair combined for seven strikeouts and six walks.
