Ridgewood and Indian Valley picked up two victories each on the baseball diamond during the past week.

Ridgewood 14,

Malvern 3

WEST LAYFETTE -- Host Ridgewood evened its overall season mark with a 14-3 mercy-rule win over the visiting Malvern Hornets in Inter-Valley Conference action on Monday.

Landon Smith (1-0) earned the mound win for the Generals, fanning four and walking four. Robert Haney took the loss for Malvern with relief help from freshman Mitch Loomis. The two combined for two strikeouts and five walks.

For Ridgewood (2-2, 2-0 IVC), Zak Keesee had a triple and single; Ryan Rowe collected a double and single; Seth Bergeron belted a triple and Jacob Bone had a double.

Loomis had a pair of singles for Malvern (0-5).

Ridgewood 12,

Tuscarawas Central 7

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Ridgewood spotted host Tuscarawas Central Catholic a 6-0 lead, before rallying to post a 12-7 victory over the Saints on Tuesday in Inter-Valley Conference action.

Senior Trent Lingo (2-0) hurled six innings to record the pitching win for RHS, finishing with six strikeouts and four walks.

Lingo also contributed at the plate for the Generals (3-2, 3-0 IVC) with three singles and two RBI while C.J. Grove chipped in a two-run double.

Gage Miller laced a pair of doubles to lead TCC.

Manchester 6,

Indian Valley 5

AKRON -- Indian Valley High's baseballers dropped their first contest of the spring, being edged 6-5 by Manchester on Monday afternoon. Brave starter Shawn Mills absorbed the mound loss, working seven innings, fanning a pair, walking just one and yielding 10 hits.

The Braves (3-1) got two hits each from Dusty Byers and Brandon Fox as part of their seven-hit effort.

Indian Valley 6,

Claymont 2

GNADENHUTTEN -- Indian Valley continued its hot start to the season with a 6-2 win over visiting Claymont on Tuesday.

Nolan Rennicker (2-0) picked up the mound win, going the distance with one strikeout and one walk. Jordan Ueltschy suffered the loss with relief help from Nate Robinson. The duo combined to strike out four and walk none.

Kyle Lehigh, Brandon Fox and Garron Fawcett paced the Braves (4-1) offense with a double each.

Ueltschy and Robinson both doubled for the Mustangs (3-2).

Indian Valley 13,

Manchester 7

GNADENHUTTEN -- Rebounding from a narrow league loss on Monday, Indian Valley turned the tables on Manchester with a 13-7 home PAC win on Wednesday. The Braves pounded out a dozen hits and capitalized on four Manchester miscues. Pocketing the mound win was Kyle Lehigh, who worked five frames, surrendering nine hits, fanning four and walking three. He upped his spring record to 2-0 and got two innings of relief help from Alex Bear, who struck out one and walked one.

Pacing the Brave (5-1, 3-1 PAC) offense was Byers, who collected a single, double and an RBI. Also providing two hits were Fox, Brady Byers, Mitch Kennedy and Jake Davis. Fox's night also included four RBIs.

NEXT--The Braves will be in action again on Monday when Tusky Valley guests for a 5 pm start.

Tuscarawas Central 14,

Newcomerstown 4

NEWCOMERSTOWN -- A slow start sent host Newcomerstown High down to a 14-4 defeat to Tuscarawas Central Catholic in Inter-Valley Conference baseball action on Wednesday.

The visiting Saints jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead, tacking on three first inning runs followed by five more in the second.

Boss Gibson (0-2) took the loss on the mound for the Trojans (0-6, 0-2 IVC), finishing with one strikeout and two walks.

Jordan Wharff belted a home run and singled, while Dustin Hickman chipped in two singles.

Jimmy Tolotti led the Saints with three singles.
