NEWCOMERSTOWN -- Host Newcomerstown High pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 5-4 win over Malvern High in a make-up Inter-Valley Conference softball game on Monday night.

With the contest deadlocked at 4-4, Alisha Moore of the Lady Trojans coaxed a lead-off walk to start the bottom of the seventh inning. Taylor Postel then laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Moore into scoring position at second base.

From there, NHS junior slugger Allie Hinton took care of matters with a double to right center field to plate Moore with the winning run for the Lady Trojans.

Cydney McMillan went the distance for the pitching win for the Lady Trojans (20-7, 9-4 IVC), picking up seven strikeouts and walking just one batter to improve her season mark to 18-7.

Hinton led the Lady Trojans' attack with three doubles, two RBI, while Postel, Meghann Mullane, Katelyn Stringer, Aeriel Green each added singles for the winners.

Malvern (13-11, 7-7 IVC) was paced by Taylor Zeiger with two doubles, a single, while Paige Thompson ripped a triple.

MAGNOLIA -- Newcomerstown High closed out the softball season on the losing end of a 9-3 score to the host Sandy Valley Lady Cardinals in Inter-Valley Conference play on Tuesday.

Sandy Valley (14-10, 7-7 IVC) banged out 12 hits off losing pitcher Aeriel Green led by Kennedy Bowling with four singles.

Newcomerstown (20-8, 9-5 IVC) had just four hits of Sandy Valley pitcher Katie Beem (3-1) paced by Kelsey McCune with a pair of singles.
