WEST LAFAYETTE -- Numbers may be small for the Ridgewood High cross country teams, but that doesn't mean the expectations are not at a high level.

Entering his second season guiding the RHS harriers, coach Lester McCurdy likes the work ethic his team has shown.

"We expect our individual efforts to pay off at the end of the season," McCurdy said. "We're putting in some hard work and hope that it pays off in the end."

For the boys team, a pair of lettermen return this season in senior Zak Kessee and Jeff Connor, along with sophomore A.J. Allman.

Newcomers to the RHS boys' squad this year are sophomore Phillip Shannon and freshman Travis Vickers.

For the Lady Generals it will be a fresh start with no returning lettermen from a year ago.

The lone senior for the Lady Generals will be Leighanna Allman, along with juniors Jessica McCoun and Erica Olinger. Sophomore Baylee Hayes completes the roster for the Lady Generals this season.

Both squads tuned up for the quickly approaching season by running in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Preseason Invitational held at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.

Kessee led the Generals' effort with a time of 20:27.39, while Vickers followed with an effort of 23:59.20 and Allman turned in a time of 27:10.96.

For the Lady Generals, it was Olinger leading the way with 25:45.28, followed by Haynes who finished in 30:44.76.
