MAGNOLIA --Visiting Ridgewood High scored a 25-11, 25-19, 25-5 season-opening victory over Sandy Valley in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action on Monday.

Erika Michael led the Lady Generals with 22 points while Victoria Wiggins tallied 17 points, had 16 assists and added seven kills. Other stat leaders for RHS included Kelsey Miller with five points, eight kills and six blocks; Abbey Youngen with six points; and Laura Crawford with two points, 12 assiss, five kills and four blocks.

Ridgewood also won the reserve match, 25-21 and 25-16.

NEWCOMERSTOWN -- In the season opener for both teams, Garaway High grabbed a three-match victory over host Newcomerstown in Inter-Valley Conference action on Tuesday.

The Lady Pirates rolled to wins by scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 25-17 for the IVC victory.

"We just need to take better care of the ball," Newcomerstown coach John Dupke said. "We had 18 hitting errors tonight and that makes it tough to win. We just have to do a better job in the future."

Alicia Moore led the Lady Trojans (0-1, 0-1 IVC) with seven points, 10 assists with Sara Miller chipping in with seven points (two aces) and senior Aeriel Green finished with 11 digs. Kara Jenkins tallied eight digs, eight kills, freshman Karlee Peach handed out seven assists and Cydney McMillan contributed eight kills.

CANTON -- Indian Valley High had an easy time in its first volleyball outing, pounding host Canton South on Tuesday by scores of 25-3, 25-8, 25-7 in the Principal's Athletic Conference debut for each team.

The Lady Braves (1-0, 1-0 PAC) got 32 serving points and eight aces from Maggie Kennedy; five kills and a pair of blocks from Ashley Reynolds; and another five kills from Danera Lamonica.

Indian Valley also captured the jayvee contest by scores of 25-6, 25-6. The Lady Brave freshmen made it a clean sweep by scoring a 20-25, 25-11, 25-18 triumph.

BERLIN -- Homestanding Hiland High claimed a 15-10 win in the fifth and deciding match Thursday to slip past Newcomerstown by a 3-2 margin in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action.

The Lady Trojans won the opener 25-23, but dropped the second set 25-22. Newcomerstown rebounded in the third for a 25-20 win before Hiland (1-2, 1-1 IVC) claimed a 27-25 victory and set up the decider.

For Newcomerstown (0-2, 0-2 IVC) Karlee Peach scored 14 points and handed out 10 assists. Cydney McMillan had a big night as she tallied 10 points with five aces, 15 digs and 20 kills. Alyson Rexroad served up four aces, had 23 digs and added nine kills while Aeriel Green added 19 digs.

Laura Crawford had 10 points (two aces), nine assists and four kills for the Lady Generals while Erika Michael collected 15 points (four aces) and 12 digs; Victoria Wiggans had eight pionts, six kills and 18 assists; Laura Frazee had 13 points (two aces); Kelsey Miller had five points, sseven kills and si xblocks; and Amanda Lowery had two pionts, five kills and five blocks.

The RHS junior varsity team (1-1) lost, 25-21, 25-21.
