BYESVILLE -- At the annual Colt Carnival on Saturday, the Cambridge girls claimed the team championship with Caldwell finishing second in both the girls' and boys' events. The Meadowbrook boys were fifth, the Barnesville boys finished seventh and the Lady Shamrocks ninth, the Newcomerstown boys were eighth, the Cambridge boys were ninth and the Ridgewood girls finished 10th.
In the girls 5K run, Morgan (89) finished third behind Cambridge (62 points) and Caldwell (66 points) with Marietta claiming fourth (92) followed by Union Local (106), Indian Creek (149), River (172), Martins Ferry (176), Barnesville with 232 points and Ridgewood with 237 points.
The Lady Redskins of Caldwell claimed the top two individual places with Jenna Furr winning the race with a time of 19:31.31. Katie Saling was second in 19:54.26 and Cambridge had three of the top ten finishers with Elizabeth Phillips claiming fourth with a time of 20:16.63), Rachel Jamiel followed closely in fifth in 20:51.57 and Morgan Holdren claimed eighth place in 21:02.58.
Sunshine Wrenn of Martins Ferry rounded out the top five individual finishers with third place in a time of 20:11.30.
Other individual scorers for Cambridge were Alyssa Giesey in 21st place (22:12.16) and Emilee Waddell with a 25th place finish in a time of 22:37.76.
Other scorers for Caldwell included Hanna Muellner in 13th place (21:40.52), Haylee Saling in 22nd place (22:20.85) and Lexis Waller in 31st place in 22:54.75.
The Barnesville Lady Shamrocks were paced by Karleigh Clouse in 42nd place in a time of 23:38.19 followed by Kayla Erickson 53rd (24:18.03), Mariah Riley 56th (24:33.39), Nicole Burkhart 60th (24:58.21) and Carolyn Blattler with a 66th place finish in 25:48.47.
The Lady Generals of Ridgewood were led by Jessica McCoun in 12th place in 25:31.81 followed by Erica Olinger 52nd (24:17.47), Leighanna Allman 71st (26:03.21), Jasmine Pelfrey 87th (29:13.27) and Amy Foreman in 90th place at 30:58.00.
Host Meadowbrook and Newcomerstown had runners but not enough to complete for a team score. Meadowbrook's Savanna Feldner finished 26th with a time of 22:40.81, Kierstan McComb was 43rd (23:47.05) and Emily Sills was 69th in 26:00.12. The Newcomerstown Lady Trojans had Mckaila Goodwin finishs 44th in 23:50.48.
In the boys' 5K run, Indian Creek claimed the team title with 77 points with Caldwell close behind with 80 points. Marietta was third with 101 points followed by Malvern (106), host Meadowbrook in fifth with 107 points, Morgan sixth (141 points), with Barnesville in seventh (162 points), Newcomerstown in eighth (170), Cambridge in ninth (232) followed by Union Local (239), Bellaire (243) and Philo with 336 points.
Mitchell Grose of Marietta was the individual winner with a time of 16:27.81, while Tanner Harding of Caldwell was second in 16:45.27. Other scorers for the Redskins of Caldwell were Jonathan Niswonger in fifth in 17:00.34, Matt Zwick 21st (17:49.04), Brandon Savage 23rd (18:05.13) and Calvin Parmiter in 36th place with a time of 18:52.69.
James Sheets of Morgan finished third in 16:46.81 and Eli Strahler of Waterford was fourth with a time of 16:50.66.
Meadowbrook was paced by Dallas Guy with a sixth place finish in a time 17:09.30. Other scorers for the Colts were: Brett Bell in 11th place in 17:24.13, John Janczerak in 22nd place (17:53.81), Jason Dunlap in 32nd place (18:43.28) and Paul Stephens in 49th place with a time of 19:19.67.
The Shamrocks of Barnesville were led by Brandon Stephens in 10th place with a time of 17:23.60 followed by Mason Moore 25th (18:15.30), Abel Broomall 37th (18:53.94), Christopher Baker 40th (18:57.94) and Brandon Davidson in 72nd place in 20:36.38.
Newcomerstown was paced by Nathan Marinucci in ninth place with a time of 17:19.88 followed by Derek Stamets 20th (17:47.13), Daniel Lovrinic 38th (18:54.57), David Billings 61st (20:06.35) and Colin Mozena in 65th place in 20:20.47.
Wesleigh Lewis led the Cambridge Bobcat team with a 35th place finish in 18:51.07. He was followed by Tom Harris 44th (19:01.83), Zavin Orr 52nd (19:29.47), Zac Miskimen 68th (20:26.27) and Jimmy Allen in 69th place at 20:28.11.
Ridgewood also had runners in the race, but not enough to compete for a team score with Shannon Phillips finishing 42 in 18:59.54, Travis Vickers was 55th (19:42.84), A.J. Allman was 83rd (21:53.50) and Nathan Schwartz finished 102 in 26:38.77.

BOARDMAN -- At the Spartan Cross Country Invitational hosted by Boardman High School on Saturday, the Indian Valley Lady Braves placed ninth in a 45-team field, while the IV boys came in 35th in the same size field.
In the girls' Division II race, the Lady Braves finished ninth with 364 points with Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary taking the team championship wit 30 points.
Paige Soho paced Indian Valley with a 13th place finish in a time of 20:12.63 and was followed by Courtney Emler in 34th place (20:48.07), Tawny Ault in 72nd place (21:49.45), Emily Probert in 123rd place (22:55.90) and Emily Baker close behind in 124th place with a time of 22:56.99.
In the boys' race, Indian Valley had a team score of 934 to finish 35th overall.
Nolan Rennicker paced the Braves individually finish in 120th place with a time of 18:40.52. He was followed for team scoring by Bailey McBeth in 134th place (18:50.55), Evan Menefee in 185th place (19:36.42), Cole Schreiner in 254th place (20:55.66) and Austin Menefee in 273rd place with a time of 21:40.17.
