PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Sophomore Allison Snyder (Newcomerstown, Ohio) pulled out a three-set victory at No. 3 singles, which lifted the Bethany College women's tennis team to a 5-4 triumph at LaRoche recently for the Bison's first win this season.

With the match tied at 4-4, Snyder and LaRoche's Alea Marks saw their match go to a super tiebreaker after each player took a set by the identical 6-3 score. Snyder would end up pulling out a 10-7 win in that tiebreak for Bethany's initial win of the year. It was also the third straight singles victory for Snyder, who is now 3-3 this season.

The Bison were in position for the victory after two wins in singles and doubles. The match opened with the No. 1 team of senior Maria Vallone (Rochester, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and junior Sarah Geier (Mudau, Germany) taking an 8-5 win. In addition, the third double tandem of senior Dee Gamble (Moundsville, W.Va./John Marshall) and sophomore Jordan Jones (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) trailed 6-2, but battled all the way back for a 9-7 victory, the duos first of the season.

Adding to the doubles wins were two seniors delivering straight-set victories in singles. Vallone improved to 5-1 on the year at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 decision and Gamble added to her first doubles win with her initial singles triumph, as she won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
