MALVERN -- The host Malvern High Hornets utilized a solid ground attack to sting the visiting Ridgewood Generals 32-7 on Friday night in Inter-Valley Conference play and continue their quest for a sixth straight trip to the postseason.

The Hornets amassed 229 yards on 41 tries with Max Kapron and Cobin Plessinger each scoring a pair of touchdowns. Plessinger was the workhorse for the hosts on the ground, collecting 97 yards on 28 carries including touchdown runs of four and two yards.

Kapron carried the ball five times for 77 yards and also was on the receiving end of a touchdown pass.

Malvern (4-1, 1-1 IVC) wasted no time in setting the tone for the night with Kapron catching a 24-yard scoring aerial from junior quarterback Trey Tucci. Anthony Ruegg tacked on the PAT kick and the Hornets were in front 7-0. Kapron then added his second score of the night as he broke loose for a 67-yard scoring scamper, but the kick failed giving the hosts a 13-0 advantage.

Plessinger then collected the next Malvern TD on a four-yard plunge and this time the Ruegg kick was true as the hosts vaulted out to a 20-0 edge.

Ridgewood cut into the deficit with tight end C.J. Grove hauling in a 23-yard scoring strike from junior quarterback Ryan Lowe and senior Brett Mitchell split the uprights with the kick to pull the Generals within a 20-7 count.

Malvern was not finished as Marcus Johnson picked off a Ridgewood pass and raced 20 yards to the endzone, but again the kick failed for a 26-7 Hornet lead. Plessinger finished off the scoring with a two-yard run, but the running attempt for the two-point conversion came up short providing the 32-7 final.

Ridgewood (3-2, 1-1 IVC) was led in rushing by Seth Bergeron with 14 carries for 68 yards.
