Several players from the local area gained recognition on the AP Eastern District Basketball All-Star Team for the 2012-13 season.

Heading the list are Newcomerstown High senior Allie Hinton and Ridgewood senior Kelsey Miller, who both earned first team accolades on the girls' Division III squad. Hinton averaged 22.5 point per game for the Lady Trojans while Miller averaged 19.7 for the Lady Generals.

Indian Valley had Randy Emler named the girls' Division III "Coach of the Year"; junior Emily Baker selected to the second team and junior Paige Soho tabbed to the third unit. Baker averaged 14.2 points per game while Saho tallied 10.4 per contest.

Girls earning special mention included Amanda Lowery and Laura Frazee of Ridgewood and Courtney Emler of Indian Valley while honorable mention picks were Karlee Peach and Lexi Montgomery of Newcomerstown and Katie Shamel of Indian Valley.

For the boys, Ridgewood senior Zak Keesee was the top honoree as a second team choice in Division III. The 6-3 Keesee averaged 18 points per game.

Third team honorees included Indian Valley senior Jamie MacAdam, who tallied 15.2 per contest, in Division II; and Newcomerstown senior Hunter Snearey, an 11.6 per game scorer and Ridgewood senior Dillon McPherson, who scored 11 points per game, in Division III.

Special mention accolades went to Shawn Mills of Indian Valley and Ryan Lowe of Ridgewood, while honorable mention picks were Brett Cox of Indian Valley, Austin King of Newcomerstown and the Ridgewood duo of Christian Grove and Joey Raach.
