WEST LAFAYETTE -- Entering his fourth season guiding the Ridgewood High girls' golf team, head coach Craig Reveal is hoping to see improvement on the links this year.
With just four players on the roster, each player will be counted on each match for the Lady Generals.
Last year, the Lady Generals complied an overall record of 6-48, along with a 1-2 mark in Inter-Valley Conference play which earned them a fourth place finish in the league.
"We are looking to be competitive with the other teams in the IVC this year," Reveal, an RHS graduate said. "We will also be part of the Tri-County Girls Golf League this year and hope to be competitive there as well."
Competition in the new Tri-County Golf League figures to be strong with the likes of Garaway, Strasburg, Snady Valley, New Philadelphia, Claymont, Indian Valley, Dover, Marlington, Fairless, Louisville, Canton Central Catholic and Carrollton.
RHS returns a trio of letterwinners from last year led by senior Amanda Matchett, along with sophomores Kaitlyn Finton and Samantha Wilson.
"All three of my letterwinners have worked very hard in the off-season to improve," Reveal stated. "They put in a lot of time and hopefully that work shows up this season out on the course."
Rounding out the Lady Generals' roster will be newcomer freshman Tyra Redd.
"Tyra is new to the game of golf but seems to be a quick learner," Reveal said. "I like her potential and feel she is a great addition to the team."
