BYESVILLE -- All three of our local high-school boys' cross-country teams were in action at the annual Colt Carnival hosted by Meadowbrook High School.

Indian Valley scored a runner-up team finish in the 18-school event with 61 points, just 14 in arrears of champ Caldwell. Newcomerstown's total of 81 was good for eighth. Ridgewood placed 15th with 367 points.

Individually, IV's Trevor Ault posted the best time for a local runner. His 16:54.80 was good for fifth. Teammate Evan Menafee placed eighth with a time of 17:04.47. Also with a top-10 finish was the Braves' Cody Booth, who had a 17:10.15 effort. Rounding out the Indian Valley scoring finishers were Bailey McBeth (17:29.43) and Collin Border (18:20.64).

Nate Marinucci turned in the fastest Newcomerstown time (17:12.75). The remainder of the Trojan times were as follows : Garret Mozena (18:02.64), Daniel Lovrinic (19:35.73), Collen Mozena (20:04.11), Steven Chilensky (20:48.34).

The fastest Ridgewood effort was from Travis Vickers (18:44.57). The remainder of the General scoring times looked like this: Dakota Crites (20:07.86), A.J. Allman (20:15.03), Jared Michael (22:21.01), Austin Ellis (22:33.83).

Speeding to the individual title was Strasburg's Luke Myers (16:04.97), but he didn't have enough teammates to qualify for a team finish.

Caldwell's team title was achieved with five, top-21 finishes and 47 points. As noted above, Indian Valley took second. The rest of the local team scores were as follows : 8th-Newcomerstown (240), 15th-Ridgewood (367).

Indian Valley's girls' team took fourth place in the 12-school girls' field with 85 points. Carrollton won the girls' team title with 57 points. Runner-up Caldwell finished with 70 poins and Reedsville Eastern took third with 82 points.

The Lady Braves' top-five were as follows : Paige Saho (18:42. 93), Shannon Regula (20:00.20), Tawney Ault (20:37.67), Celina Mayforth (21:04.23), Emily Baker (22:11.94).

Saho's effort was good for an individual third place finish. Fallon Doyle from Bellaire St. John won the individual title with a time of 18:22.18.

Ridgewood had a pair of runners competing. Jessica McCoun posted a time of 21:39.95 and Taylor Danley's time was 23:00.94. As they were the only Lady Generals participaing, Ridgewood did not figure in the team scoring.
