Indian Valley 67, Manchester 66
GNADENHUTTEN -- A 22-16 advantage in the critical fourth period propelled the host Indian Valley High girls' hoopsters to a come-from-behind 67-66 PAC triumph over Manchester on Wednesday.
The guests erupted for an early 18-11 lead in the opening frame and still clung to a 50-45 lead heading into the final quarter.
Balanced scoring keyed the locals' win as a trio of Lady Braves finished in double figures, led by 21 from Paige Saho. Teammates Katie Shamel and Emily Baker added 17 and 16, respectively.
The hosts finished a respectable 25-of-56 from the floor and 15-of-26 from the line. They also dominated the glass with a whopping 37-23 advantage. Saho grabbed a dozen caroms to lead all players.
Indian Valley committed 23 turnovers, one more that Manchester.
The guests finished 23-of-53 from the floor and 15-of-24 from the line. Alex Klein paced Manchester in scoring with a game high total of 26. Kayci Krzynowek added 23 points.
Claymont 90, Newcomerstown 19
NEWCOMERSTOWN --The Newcomerstown Lady Trojans suffered a tough night on Wednesday evening as the Claymont Lady Mustangs came to town and handed the hosts a discouraging 90-19 setback.
The Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 21-2 advantage after one quarter of play and put the game out of reach with a 21-6 advantage to end the second period to lead 42-8 at the halftime break.
Claymont continued their dominant play in the second half, outscoring the Lady Trojans by a 48-11 margin to coast to the win.
Newcomerstown (0-7) was paced by Karlee Peach with five points, with Susannah Hall and Brittnay Hennis each added four in the losing effort.
The Lady Mustangs were led by Caitlin Clarke with 25 points and Tiffany Sunderlin who pumped in 15 for the winners
Garaway 63, Ridgewood 38
SUGARCREEK -- Garaway High defended its home court on Saturday afternoon with a 63-38 victory over the Ridgewood High Lady Generals in an Inter-Valley Conference match-up.
Leading by a 32-22 margin at the intermission, the Lady Pirates outscored RHS 31-16 in the second half to collect the IVC win.
Courtney Putt tallied a game-high 24 points, including a pair of three-pointers to lead Garaway, with Kendra Miller chipping in with 15.
Ridgewood was led by Laura Frazee with 12 points, while Emily McCoy and Amanda Lowery each added double figure support with 10 markers for the Lady Generals.
With the loss, the Lady Generals slip to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the IVC.
Indian Valley 65, Fairless 57
NAVARRE -- On the strength of a strong third period, the Indian Valley Lady Braves managed a tough 65-57 PAC road win over host Fairless High on Saturday afternoon.
Leading just 31-30 at the half, the Lady Braves doubled up the hosts 16-8 in the crucial third frame.
Each squad connected for 21 field goals, but the difference came at the line where Indian Valley finished 18-of-29 compared to just 8-of-14 for Fairless.
Paige Saho and Emily Baker each tallied 18 points to lead Indian Valley, while teammate Sydney Kandray added a dozen.
Indian Valley also owned a final 29-23 rebounding edge and committed just 14 turnovers, seven fewer than the losers.
