NEWCOMERSTOWN -- With a 57-24 victory over the visiting Monroe Central Seminoles Saturday, the host Newcomerstown Trojans improved to 6-1 on the season. The Trojans won all but four matches on the day taking the heaviest hit at the upper weights.
"I have been very pleased with the way the guys are wrestling," first year Trojan mentor Jericoe Jones stated. "We have been working hard in the wrestling room and we are starting to see those results on the mat. Our goal is to get better each week and try to peak right at sectional time." Results:

COSHOCTON -- A trio of local wrestling teams took part in the two-day Coshocton Stitcho Invitational which wrapped up on Saturday afternoon.
Ridgewood came in sixth place with 329 , Newcomerstown took eighth with 289 and Indian Valley came in 13th.
Waynedale captured the top spot in the team standings with 660 points in the 19 team field followed by Minerva in second (464), followed by Licking Valley (411) third, and River View (396) finished in the fourth spot and Cambridge (348) was fifth.
Leading the Trojans' grapplers was Alan Hayhurst (126, 6-1), followed by Austin Stringer (145, 6-3), Jarred Weaver (152, 6-3) and Dylan Little (120, 5-2).
Cole Zeigler turned in an impressive 8-0 record in the 132-pound division, with Colton Bethel (106, 7-2), Garrett Bethel (160, 7-2) and Kelly Barthalow (285, 7-2) finishing with solid efforts.
Indian Valley was led by Mitchell Giffen (113, 7-2) and Logan Ryan (160, 7-1) with third place showings, with Daniel Roan (120, 4-2) taking fifth and Nate Wenger (138, 4-3) finishing in seventh place.
