NEWCOMERSTOWN -- Newcomerstown High continue a solid season on the mats with a double-dual sweep on Monday. The Trojans defeated Navarre Fairless by a 52-28 count and topped Indain Valley, 54-14.

NHS is now 10-1 in duals.

"We are starting to peak at the right time of the year," said Coach Jerico Jones. "We were very aggressive on our feet and all the kids wrestled very hard."

HEATH -- Ridgewood High and Newcomerstown each took part in the Robin Drumm Wrestling Classic on Saturday at Heath High School.

The Trojans snared the runner-up spot with 307 points, behind first place Philo who won the team title with 351 points. The Generals were next in third place with a total of 305, with Highland (246) fourth and Licking Heights (221.5) claiming fifth place.

Leading the NHS grapplers with first place finishes were Alan Hayhurst (126-pound) and Mitchell Meeks (182). Austin Stringer (138), Kyle Pritchard (160) each snared a second place finish for the Trojans. Third place showings were turned in by Dylan Little (120), Hunter Stringer (145), Jarred Weaver (152), and Dylan Anderson (195) for the Trojans.

Rounding out the NHS place-winners were Codi Rothacher, fourth at 106 pounds; Erik Hayhurst, fourth at 170; Darnell Crider-Harris, fifth at 220; David Billings, seventh at 132.

Ridgewood champions on the day included brothers Colton Bethel (106) and Garrett Bethel (160). Zach Donley (170) earned a second place finish, while keeping up the family success was Kyle Bethel (126) with a third place finish, and Kevin Bethel (138) with a fourth place effort. Cole Zeigler (132), and Kelly Bathalow (285) each finished in third for the Generals.

Completing the RHS effort on the day were Javon Merrill, sixth at 120; Thor Reed, fourth at 145; Kasey Bethel, seventh at 152; Anthony Harrman, fourth at 220; Ben Hostetler, fourth at 182.
