In the OHSAA Team Tournament Duals Wednesday the Indian Valley Braves won their opening match in Division II at Carrollton and then fell to host Carrollton in the finals, while the Ridgewood Generals also won their opening in Division III action at Garaway and then lost to host Garaway.

In the Division II Regional Quarterfinals at Carrollton, the Indian Valley Braves defeated Indian Creek 39-31 to advance and then dropped a 46-22 decision to Carrollton in the finals. Scoring two wins for the Braves were Brady O'Connor, Dalton Burcher, Adam Lenhoff, Jarrett Swinderman and John Pankuch.

In the Division III quarterfinals hosted by Garaway High School the Ridgewood Generals posted a 48-36 opening round win over West Muskingum and then fell to host Garaway by a 37-34 score in the finals. Double winners for the Generals were Colton Bethel, Tyler Caudy, Javon Merrill, Kasey Bethel, Nathaniel Thompson and James Kedigh.

MILLERSBURG -- Indian Valley took part in the West Holmes Invitational on Saturday afternoon with the Braves' grapplers taking the runner-up spot in the event.

Carrollton claimed the top spot with 294.5 points with the Braves in second place with 237.5 followed by host West Holmes (225.5) and Buckeye Medina (178.5).

Placing for the Braves on the day were Brady O'Connor, Dalton Burcher, Zach Love, Jarrett Swinderman, John Pankuch and Adam Lenhoff with second place showings, while Caden Keathley and Hunter Baker each finished in fourth place.

Fifth place Indian Valley placers included Therron Stocker, Matt Love, Caden Rostad, Owen Quillin and Keiron O'Connor with Allen Quillin and Tanner Quillin both taking sixth place.


WELLSVILLE -- Shenandoah was fifth and Newcomerstown 10th in the Buck Bailey Memorial Wrestling Tournament hosted by Wellsville High on Saturday.

Crestview was the team champion with 183.5 points followed by West Geauga (109.5), Southern Local (94.5), Edison (90), Shenandoah (68), Malvern (58), Steubenville 'B' (55.5), South Range (43), Toronto (42), Newcomerstown (40), host Wellsville (39), Steubenville Catholic Central (34), Oak Glen 'B' (31), Edison 'X' (20), River (20), Western Reserve (17), Steubenville 'X' (15), Springfield (14), West Geauga 'X' (4) and Crestview 'X' (3).

Shenandoah had two place winners, with Easton Hitchens (14-17) taking second in the 285-pound class losing to Logan Kmatz of Edison in the championship bout. Christian Bond (18-14) placed third in the 182-pound division.

Newcomerstown was paced by Gavin Weaver (20-4), who was the individual champion of the 106-pound class, defeating Tyler Banta of Malvern in the championship round. Gannon Baker (9-8) placed third for the Trojans in 138-pound class.
