GNADENHUTTEN -- Indian Valley High School played host to the annual District 5 Basketball All-Star Games on Frida and when the action on the hardwood concluded, it was a clean sweep for the West squads.

The annual event featured some of the top senior boys and girls basketball players in the Eastern District.

In the girls' game, it was the West girls posting a 103-72 victory over their East All-Star counterparts, while in the nightcap the West Boys All-Stars picked up a 110-88 win to conclude the night's action.

A balanced scoring attack led by Angela Troyer (Hiland) with a game-high 22 point effort paced the West girls to the lopsided win.

Adding double figure support were Kacie Leppla (West Holmes) with 17 and Zoey Wisentainer (Dover) added 15 points.Other West scoring leaders were Kayla Hall (Tuscarawas Valley) and Audrey Tingle (Ridgewood) with 10 points each; and Leaellen Leslie (Malvern) and Sam Simmons (Steubenville Catholic) with nine apiece.

The West led 26-20, 48-36 and 78-50 at the quarter breaks.

In boys' action, the West All-Stars again had the upperhand with six players reaching double figures. Leading the way was Tyler Hamsher (Garaway) with an 18 point night, followed by Shevin Javersak (Strasburg) with 17; Michael Karl (New Philadelphia) and Tyler Bardall (Dover) with 15 apiece; Ashton Jarvis (Coshocton) with 13 and Henry Malcuit (Strasburg) with 10.

Newcomertown's Bryce Barbera tallied seven points.

For the East, Jaret Majestic (Malvern) tallied 18 points; Chad Neisel (Sandy Valley) netted 16: and Brett Bower (Conotton Valley) and Tyler Redish (Harrison Central) both had 14.

The West led by four at the end of the first two quarters -- 24-20 and 40-36 before a 37-14 surge in the third period opened a 77-50 lead.
