WEST LAFAYETTE -- Home cooking proved to be the perfect recipe for host Ridgewood High in Division IV Sectional baseball tournament action on Saturday with the Generals recording a 6-3 win over West Muskingum.
"I thought we played well today," RHS head coach Chad Lahna offered. "At this point in the season we're just looking to survive and advance to the next game and today we were able to do that."
A big four run second inning gave the Generals control early at 4-0, with RHS tacking on a pair of runs in the sixth to push the lead out to 6-0.
West Muskingum attempted to rally in the seventh frame, pushing across three runs to pull with 6-3 before the Generals snuffed out the comeback to take the victory.
Kolton Alexander worked six strong innings to collect the win on the mound for the Generals with five Ks and one walk. Senior Braeden Smith came on in the seventh to close out the RHS win.
"Kolton threw the ball well today," Lahna added. "We were able to score some runs early and we made it stand up."
Keith Leindecker paced the Generals offense with a double and single, while Kaden Smith chipped in with a basehit that plated a pair of RBIs.
West Muskingum was led by Kevin Adair with a pair of singles, with Shane Holbert taking the pitching loss with five strikeouts and one walk.
Ridgewood improves to 12-13 on the season with the win.
Indian Valley 0
WOOSTER -- Scoring was hard to come by as the Indian Valley Braves invaded Wooster Triway in Principal's Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.
The Titans managed to push across a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and made it stand up for a 1-0 victory over the Braves.
Dylan Neider picked up the pitching win, while Cade Williams suffered the hard-luck loss.
Both teams had three hits with Jarrett Helter, Colbey McBeth and Kyle Enos each smacking a single for Indian Valley (11-9, 7-4 PAC).
