In the Claymont Cross Country Early Bird Invitational Saturday hosted by Claymont High School, the Indian Valley girls placed fifth, while the Indian Valley boys were ninth in the Big School Division races.
In the Small School Division girls' race Newcomerstown finished eighth, while in the boys race Ridgewood was sixth and Newcomerstown eighth in team standings.
In the girls Big School Division it was Dover first with 47 points followed by Minerva (52), New Philadelphia (95), Tri-Valley (101), Indian Valley (162), Lake (185), John Glenn (181), Revere (183), Claymont (203), St. Clairsville (284), Morgan (291), Washington (343), Philo (400).
Leading the Lady Braves was Brittney Roth with a seventh place finish in 19:48.5. She was joined in team scoring by Alex Piraino, 19th (21:56.7), Sammy Myers, 35th (22:57.9), Brittany Moyer, 40th (23:11.8) and Izzy Patterson, 67th (25:01.2).
In the boys' Big School Division it was Lake on top with 61 points followed by New Philadelphia (63), East Canton (68), Tri-Valley (128), Minerva (142), John Glenn (174), Canton McKinley (205), St. Clairsville (207), Indian Valley (232), Dover (265), Revere (271), Claymont (330), Morgan (422), Washington (429) and Canton South with 430 points.
Pacing the Indian Valley Braves was Hunter Probert with a 19th place finish in 17:19.4. He was followed by Adam Lnhoff, 23rd (17:30.8), Jax Glauser, 60th (18:47.5), Reese Saho, 74th (19:12.9) and Derrick Dunlap, 76th (19:14.6).
In the Small School Division it was East Canton and Fairless tied with 65 points on top followed by Canton Central Catholic (98), Shadyside (114), Bellaire (126), Orrville (134), Martins Ferry (154), Newcomerstown 198), Malvern 247), Harrison Central (250) and Waynedale with 256 points.
Leading the Lady Trojans was Trew Davis in 16th place in 22:28.5. She was followed in scoring by Hayley Robinson, 41st (24:21.8), Christina Miller, 43rd (24:22.5), Lacey Davis, 54th (25:35.9) and Karen Miller, 55th (25:49.3).
In the boys' Small School Division it was Orrville first with 76 points followed by Bellaire (84), Martins Ferry (87), Fairless (100)
Pacing the Generals of Ridgewood was Trevor Hawkins finishing fifth in a time of 17:16.5. He was followed by Fred Doberstein, 11th (17::50), Tristan Salmon, 28th (18:41.3), Justin Conner, 47th (19:41.3) and Daniel Scott, 69th (21:06.7).
Leading the Trojans of Newcomerstown was Hunter Garretson in 22nd place with a time of 18:28.9. Other scorers for the Trojans were Jacob Robinson, 26th (18:40.6), Dylan Garretson, 41st (19:28.5), Tanner Norman, 46th (19:40.2) and Brody Lehman, 48th in 19:46.2.
