WEST LAFAYETTE -- Host Ridgewood High picked up a sweep over county rival Coshocton High in prep non-league volleyball action on Saturday.
The Lady Generals defended the home court with wins by scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-17 to improve to 4-3 on the season.
Pacing the RHS effort was Cassie Mladek with 10 kills, 12 digs, five blocks with Carly Griffith adding 14 points with nine digs and Abbey Kellish chipped in with eight kills, eight points, while Sydney Zinkon contributed 11 assists, six digs and Aleeah Cabot tallied four assists, six points and Rylee Young finished with nine digs for the winners.
BERLIN -- It was a rough night for the visiting Newcomerstown Lady Trojans as they fell in three sets to the Hiland Lady Hawks by scores of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-13 in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action Tuesday.
Leading the way for the Lady Trojans was Sydni Zufelt with eight service points and seven digs followed by Brea Garretson with six points and two kills, Erin Lynch with five digs and a pair of kills and Leah Kellish with a team-high three kills.
GNADENHUTTEN -- Ridgewood High outlasted Indian Valley in five sets in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action on Tuesday.
The Lady Generals took the win by scores of 15-25, 25-19, 19-25, 26-24 and 15-13 to improve to 5-3 on the season.
Cassie Mladek led RHS wih 13 kills, 16 digs, eight blocks, eight points (2 aces), while Abbey Kellish added 20 digs, 11 kills, six points (4 aces) and Morgan Matis chipped in with 12 kills. Carly Griffith finsihed with 15 digs, 10 points (2 aces), Aleeah Cabot had 15 digs with eight assists and Sydney Zinkon contributed 19 assists and 12 digs for the Lady Generals.
Pacing the Indian Valley (6-1, 4-1 IVC) was Kiara Rakestraw with 20 kills, 13 digs, two assists with Kitanna Rakestraw adding 20 kills, eight points, five digs and four blocks. Reagan Love chipped in with 29 assists, seven points, 12 digs and Payton Guspyt contributed 21 digs and seven points.
NEWCOMERSTOWN - After splitting the opening two sets, the visiting Garaway Lady Pirates rattled off two consecutive wins by scores of 25-16 and 25-17 to claim a 3-1 Inter-Valley Conference win over the Newcomerstown Lady Trojans on Thursday. Garaway won the opening set 25-17, but the Lady Trojans bounced back with a 25-22 in the second set to even the match.
Maddie Fish was the leading scorer for Newcomerstown with 16 points and she also led the defense with 18 digs. Sydni Zufelt added eight points and 14 digs. Madison Shisler paced the Lady Trojans at the net with 12 kills to go with four blocks and also added 16 digs.
OLD WASHINGTON - After host Buckeye Trail posted wins in the opening two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-13, the visiting Ridgewood Lady Generals cut into the deficit with a 25-23 win in the third set before the Lady Warriors finished off a 3-1 Inter-Valley Conference win with a 25-11 victory in the fourth set.
For Buckeye Trail (6-1), Alli McVicker was 18-of-20 serving with 13 points (3 aces). Rachel Chesar was a perfect 22-of-22 serving with 11 points, while Jenni Carmichael was 14-of-16 with nine points and Kali Hensley was 15-of-15 serving for seven points (1 ace). Abbi Kerns dished out 34 assists.
Leading the defense was Chesar with 21 digs with Ashlyn Doudna adding 14, Hensley 13, Carmichael and McVicker 12 each and Kerns with 10.
At the net, Chesar had 11 kills with three blocks with Samantha Canner adding 10 stops and three blocks. Carmichael added nine kills and six blocks while Doudna had seven stops and six blocks.
For Ridgewood (5-4), Carly Griffith was the leading server with four points including two service aces while Sydney Zinkon handed out 17 assists. Rylee Young, Cassie Mladek and Abbey Kellish had 15 digs each.
At the net, Mladek slammed 15 kills, while Morgan Matis and Kellish chipped in nine each. Zayvia Stanton collected five blocks.
