Graveside funeral services for Verlyn Jean Harding, 79, of Newcomerstown, were Oct. 19, 2009, at the West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. The Rev. Chauncey Eggan officiated the services. The Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown was in charge of arrangements. She passed away Oct. 16 at the Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown.

She was born Nov. 21, 1929, in Guernsey, the daughter of the late Roy and Hazel (Craig) Nay.

She graduated from Newcomerstown High School and had worked as a secretary at the Laborers Union Hall, Eureka Hardware, Baker Motor and Machine Shop. She was also a housewife.

Mrs. Harding was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Newcomerstown.

On Sept. 21, 1952, she married Orlan W. Harding Sr., who passed away Sept. 7, 2003.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Donnie Nay; and one sister, Juanita Beaver.

Survivors include two sons, Orlan W. Harding Jr. and Jeff Harding, both of Newcomerstown; one daughter, Jackie Harding of Akron; and one sister, Kathleen (Vernon) Durben of Newcomerstown.
