Authorities have identified the man found hanging from an Interstate 77 overpass last Tuesday as Anthony J. Cole, 21, of Adams County in southern Ohio.
The death was believed to have been by suicide.
Cole was found handing from the I-77 bridge spanning the Salt Fork Lake spillway in northern Guernsey County after a caller at approximately 1:36 p.m. reported seeing the body.
Guernsey County Coroner Dr. Janet Brockwell took possession of the body at the scene.
Authorities believe Cole was there for two to three hours before being discovered.
State Patrol District 7 personnel also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
Authorities are investigating to determine if Cole was hitchhiking through the area, as no vehicle was found in the vicinity of the bridge.
A Guernsey County sheriffs deputy assisted with traffic control on nearby Old 21 Road while the body was removed from the bridge.
No signs of foul play were reported by authorities.
