Quilting in museum

The Newcomerstown Quilting Bees will be working on the Community Quilt in the Temperance Tavern Museum every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to help.

Band coming to Moose

The Newcomerstown Moose Lodge 1337 will host the band, Kickstart, the number 1 rated band at Wheeling Island, on Saturday, July 7 from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Heller Bros. open house

Due to popular demand and outstanding response from the community, the Newcomerstown Historical Society will have another open house honoring the former Heller Brothers Tool Company that was in business for many years and employed many area residents over the years. The event is scheduled for July 7 and will start at 10 a.m. with a brunch and informational program to follow. The event is open to the public at no cost.

Bicentennial meeting

The next Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee meeting will be Saturday, July 14 at 10 a.m. at Newcomerstown High School. All are welcome.

Barbecue and ice cream social

The Newcomerstown Historical Society will have a barbecue and ice cream social at the museum on July 4 from noon to 3 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, cake, and lemonade to be served. The society members are inviting everyone to attend.

Crafters set up

Several area crafters will be set up at 411 Nugent St. (rear), Newcomerstown, for a craft show during the NERS chicken barbecue and car show on Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Group meeting

COSHOCTON -- Health Services of Coshocton County will have an Adult Group meeting on Thursday, July 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hospice Office, 230 S. 4th St., Coshocton.

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- TuscoBus Board of Trustees will meet July 11 at 12:30 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities Service and Support Center, 610 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia.

Chicken dinner fundraiser

The Newcomerstown Historical Society will be selling tickets within the next month for a fundraiser chicken dinner. The event will take place at the Olde Main Street Museum on July 28 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Food will be catered by Baker's IGA and entertainment by local country western band.

Computer classes set

Newcomerstown Public Library will be offering another free basic computer course. The class will run from Aug. 6 to Aug. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. Call the library at 498-8228 to register if you have not already taken this class. Seating is limited and going fast.

Blood drive set

A blood drive is set for Wednesday, July 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 121 S. College St., Newcomerstown.

Farmers market continues

Newcomerstown Farmers Market is up and running for the season. It takes place every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomerstown Library parking lot. Enjoy fresh local produce and baked goods. You will also find assorted crafts, jewelry, soap and candles.

Golf outing set

The annual Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce golf outing fundraiser is set for Wednesday, July 25 at Hickory Flats Golf Course in West Lafayette. Teams and hole sponsors are needed.

Car show planned

The Newcomerstown Rotary Club Car Show will be Saturday, July 21 at the West Elementary School, corners of Oak and Beaver streets, Newcomerstown. Rain or shine.

Registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. The cost is $10 per vehicle. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 50 vehicles.

Awards will be presented to the top 30 vehicles, including the Newcomerstown Rotary President's Choice. Awards will be presented at 8 p.m.

There will be food, music and a 50-50 raffle.

Christ's Kitchen

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The meal is free but donations are accepted.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off

Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
